Tips for Building a Nighttime Routine That Works for Real Life
You don’t need a perfect schedule or fancy supplements to get better sleep, you just need a rhythm that works for you and your family. Here’s how to start small and keep it real:
1. Set a “wind-down” alarm. Just like you set a morning alarm, try setting one 30-60 minutes before bedtime to remind you to start slowing down. That could mean turning off the TV, washing your face, or dimming the lights.
2. Build a calming habit. Think of one small thing that makes you feel relaxed and safe. Maybe it’s brushing your hair, listening to soft music, or doing a short stretch. Repeat it every night until your body begins to associate it with rest.
3. Unplug with intention. Instead of scrolling through your phone until you fall asleep, replace that habit with something gentle: a quick prayer, a favorite poem, or soft instrumental music. Better yet, check out our new Vida Noble Sleep Video -created with love to help our comunidad rest deeply using faith-based affirmations, calming nature sounds, and breathing exercises. It’s made just for us and will be available soon on our YouTube channel. If you’re using your phone to listen, place it face-down or switch to audio-only mode so the light doesn’t interrupt your rest. Make your screen serve your peace, not steal it.
4. Give kids a routine, too. A warm bath, a bedtime story, and a little cuddle time can help kids fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer, which means better sleep for you, too.
5. Don’t aim for perfection. Some nights will be harder than others. Give yourself grace and keep returning to your routine. Over time, your body will thank you.
These small rituals aren’t just about sleep, they’re about honoring your health and creating peace in your home. And that, in itself, is healing.
